Guest Bedroom Reveal!

desert theme guest bedroom decor and reveal! | sassy red lipstick

I am so excited to share with you our second room reveal in Tripp Oasis {be sure to check out Taz’s nursery reveal here in case you missed it}! We’ve now had many visiting friends and family stay in our guest room since moving in almost six months ago and it’s been so fun! It was actually the first room to be fully completed because we love having friends and family come stay with us and wanted everyone to feel comfortable and at home. As for the decor, we went with a Sonoran desert theme to give our guests a truly authentic Arizona experience while staying with us! It’s cozy, warm, and inviting, just like the desert sun. We wanted it to feel like a postcard tribute to our beautiful Grand Canyon State. Robbie actually put together most of this room and we just love how it turned out!

First things first: It was very important for us to have a comfy bed for our guests! We knew we wanted a king size bed because that’s become a strong preference for us when traveling and staying at a hotel or with friends/family {once you get used to sleeping on a King, a Queen just feels so squished haha!} We heard so many wonderful things about the Leesa mattress {especially from our good friend/amazing blogger Jenn Lake!} and we ended going with their King Hybrid Mattress. Even better, Leesa makes their own Platform Bed Frame to go with the mattress, and then we wanted to spruce it up even further with their Mattress Protector and Hybrid Pillows {obsessed with these!!!} to complete the bed. We even got Robbie’s dad a hybrid pillow of his own as a gift after he stayed in our guest room and said he couldn’t sleep on any other pillow ever again! Every single guest has absolutely loved the mattress and always remarks how comfy it is. Both Robbie and I have also taken a snooze on it and we couldn’t love it more! It’s soft while also giving the support you need while sleeping.

I’m so excited that the good people at Leesa are now offering an incredible promo for all of you Sassy Red Lipstick followers! Use code SRLxLeesa for 20% off your entire order {one use per customer}! This is super generous of Leesa and I can’t wait to hear how you love your new mattress! Big thanks to the Leesa team for gifting our mattress set and making our guest room comfy for all our friends and family for years to come.

Linking all the items I can below! If something isn’t linked, it’s because Robbie found it on a late night run to HomeGoods. Our cactus print above the bed is a fun photo we found on Unsplash and had custom printed and custom framed for the space. My chunky knit throw is here and in size medium. Enjoy the photos of our cozy, desert guest room! xx

PS: These photos were taken when I was still pregnant! Our little Taz has been with us five weeks now!

This room is so uniquely you! Love the creativity and thought that was put into it. Was it Robbie who curated the design or a collaborative effort? That sunbust mirror is goals, might have to get that for my guest room too! Also what the heck with the jealous lurkers on this post? Surely they are just miserably writing from their dingy $3000 a month shared bedroom in the TL of SF. I think you and Robbie have done what any couple would do if they have extra space. It’s important to have a place for friends and fam that reflects personal style and home.

Who cares if it was done already. Who cares about any of your negative thoughts. Who cares if Robbie wrote it. Who cares if you like the room or not. Why does all of your negative opinions matter so much but their opinion of the room in THEIR house? Negative comments are so gross.

This room was previously showcased on LTKIHome on September 4th.

Also, are you showcasing something you showcased months ago on LTKIHome beacause you can moderate the comments like you couldn’t on their ig page because you’re thin-skinned cowards who can’t handle criticism at all?

I have followed you for years and love your instagram and your clothing style. I’m plus size so I love how you show what’s stylish. I’m a size 16-18 like you and i love that you can rock the fashions!! There is no malice or undertones involved but i honestly wonder why you didn’t wait until you could style the room properly. I have to agree with the comments from the like to know it instagram a few months back. This room honestly looks like the room I cobbled together when I was in college, not a desert money room. I do have to ask why didn’t you guys iron the bed skirt or at least use some desert money to hire someone to do it. Keep rocking the plus sizes!!

I feel like Sarah is closer to a size 12 and more “curvy” than “plus size” but yes! She definitely rocks her fashion looks and promotes body positivity.

Oh, I just assumed she was closer to a 16-18. That’s my size and I look about her size. My mistake. It honestly doesn’t even matter what size. She rocks whatever she is wearing!!

This room looks so cute and comfy !! And ignore the haters girly, they’re defintly just bored and sad they live in one bedroom apartments and are too dumb to understand this is just your little guest room in your desert money oasis! :] Can’t even wait to see the rest of the home it looks so fun and amazing! You and Robbie inspire me so much !!

Lol I was totally thinking the same thing, why would people care at all about a house that they don’t live in and is still obviously way nicer than theirs because otherwise they wouldn’t be commenting hahaha. Keep doing your thang Sassy!!! Anxiously waiting for the full house tour! <3

Lol. Just because someone has a differing opinion doesn’t mean they are bored or sad. (And I’m not quite sure why a one bedroom apartment keeps getting dragged into it.) It simply means a different point of view.

I responded because as a huge fan of her instagram clothing style and her ability to rock the plus sizes (she truly has inspired to me to step out of my fashion box through the years) I genuinely didn’t see anything that was aspirational much less desert money in that room. While her husband loves to blather on about having money and spending money, I know high end design when i see it. I have a close friend w/o is an interior designer for wealthy clients and my husband works with wealthy clients. The room looked more like college dorm money or my first apartment money.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with her guest room. I guess I’m just used to really money decorating and was expecting so much more and was a little surprised at low cost look. i think I need to stick to her amazing instagram, clothing and her rock the house fashion posts and skip the rest.

Lol just because you think you know “wealthy clients” doesn’t mean your opinion on what someone else’s house should or should not look like means anything haha. Do you even watch Sarah’s instagram stories?? Obviously their house is super nice and new and especially the master bedroom and bathroom are major goals. A guest room is the like the least important room of the house and it looks like they just wanted to make it comfy and themed and different form the rest of the house. Not a big deal at all! Its crazy to me why people think their opinion on someone else’s home matters!!! Yall need to get a life.
