Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2018: tips & tricks
it’s that time of the year again! the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale begins in just a few days this week! it’s basically Christmas in July and my very favorite sale to shop. i wanted to share some info about how to shop the sale, give you my best tips {like what items tend to sell out the fastest}, and i’ve even rounded up a handful of my favorites from the sale below! you can’t quite shop them yet, but keep reading to learn more.
i’ve actually worked a handful of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sales from back when i worked at the company and I’ve now covered the sale as a blogger for several years, too! i would definitely call myself a seasoned Nordy girl, so feel free to ask me any questions in the comments below.
what is the sale:
the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is special because it’s a sale on upcoming fall trends, instead of sale clothing that has been online or in-store for weeks/months. once the sale is over, the items’ prices go back up! basically, you get to shop for new fall pieces at a discount, which is AWESOME.
the majority of the Anniversary Sale pieces are special and specific to this sale. meaning, the Nike shoes on the sale won’t be sold at other department stores or other Nikes stores. so many of the brands make specific pieces just for the sale that you won’t be able to get elsewhere. that’s the allure!
when to shop the sale:
July 12th: Nordstrom cardholders can shop!{the sale goes live at midnight PST… so i don’t plan to go to sleep the night of the 11th!}
July 21st: public access to the sale beings and runs until August 5th
how to shop the sale:
the Nordstrom Anniversary pre-sale begins on the 13th if you’re a Nordstrom card holder. don’t have a Nordy card? you can apply here! i personally have the debit card version, but Nordstrom doesn’t make them anymore.
that being said, here are the benefits of having the card:
-you can earn 2 points per dollar when your purchase in-store or online at Nordstrom, Nordstrom Rack, HauteLook, and Trunk Club.
-every 2,000 points you accumulate, you will receive a $20 Nordstrom Note that you can use toward any of your purchases {so $1,000 spent}.
-bonus for signing up NOW: you’ll receive a $40 bonus Note once approved when you make any purchase with your new card.
my best tips:
-apply for the card now so you can shop early!
-take a peek at the online catalog to get a sense of the items included in the sale!
-items sell out FAST. for example, last year i waited until midnight PST to shop the sale and placed a huge online order. when i woke up the next morning, i decided i wanted the infamous millennial pink Nikes that every single blogger i know bought {haha}. it was only about 7-8 hours after the sale went live, but my item was backordered and then ended up being canceled altogether. so my best advice is to order anything on your list the moment the sale hits! because Nordstrom has such a great return policy, you can easily return to the store or ship back for free whatever you decide you don’t want to keep or whatever doesn’t fit. that being said, i would also advise to order two sixes if you’re not sure which one! there’s nothing worse than ordering an item that doesn’t fit but the other size you need is already gone.

Nike anything, but especially shoes
any BaubleBar jewelry
TopShop items
tops/dresses/sweaters/denim under $50 {think Wayf, BP, Lush, etc}
motto leggings/jackets
here’s my own plan of attack on how to shop the sale! {does that sound dramatic enough?!}
i will be out of the country when early access begins, so i won’t be able to shop in-store. that’s fine with me because i have no problem placing a bulk order online and trying on in the comfort of my own home! that being said, i won’t be able to do a try-on for you until Monday, July 16th. stay tuned to my Stories then! in the meantime, i’ve seen a lot of the Nordy sale items {perks of being a blogger} and have already shot a few outfits i’ll be sharing along with my roundups. my roundups will include my top five picks from every category, my top beauty picks, 50 items under $50, top men’s picks, transitional fall looks, etc.
what do i plan to buy?!i love snagging a few sweaters for fall, a pair of both Good American and 7 for all mankind jeans, a designer pair of booties or heels, stocking up on my favorite beauty items, a few transitional dresses for fall, and i have my eye on a pair of designer sunglasses! i'll be sure to share exactly what i purchase.
