the best faux leather leggings for curvy gals
i've seen so much hype around faux leather leggings within the last year or so! in my early days of blogging, i wore them quite often {circa 2013, flashback here}. i've seen my fellow blogger gals and friends mostly wearing two brands, Spanx and Commando. both are high-waisted, the same price point under $100, and come in sizes XS-XL, so i wanted to try them out and review them for you. i wore them both in different ways: the Spanx i dressed up {blouse + heels} and the Commando i dressed down {zip-up and sneakers}. regardless of which pair i like better, i wanted to share how versatile faux leather leggings can be!edit: Spanx does carry some of the leggings in plus {sizes 1X-3X} here, here, and here!you already know i love the brand Spanx {here, here, and here}, so i had a feeling i'd love their leggings! Commando is a brand i have not previously worn before. i read so many of the reviews on both of these leggings, and overall people love them. however, the consensus on the reviews was that both brands run small! i actually bought the size large in both {my normal size}. the Spanx leggings fit better, and while I could get the Commando on they were tight. i have thick thighs, but slim calves and they were even tight on my calves. both definitely suck you in nicely, but i would still recommend sizing up if you're in-between sizes.here's my overall review:Spanx leggings:-the large fit me great-i like the texture detailing on these better-i'm only 5'5, but because i have thick legs and a booty, i felt like the Spanx hit me more high-waisted than the Commando-these do roll down a tad when i sit-these seem to be more matte in photos {both photos were edited the same}Commando leggings:-the large was tight, i would size up to the xl on these-a plus to these is that there's no waistband line, unlike the Spanx {see photos}-didn't seem to be as high-waisted as the Spanx were on me-appeared a bit shiny in photos-these don't roll down when i sitas you can see, both pairs have their pros and cons! i think i'll order the size xl in the Commando, but for now the large is being returned, as the Spanx fit much better overall. i do realize both of these only go to an XL, so if you have a pair that includes more sizes, please share below in the comments so others can try them out!have you worn either or both of these faux leather leggings? which did you prefer!? xx
